FIRST TEST SESSION / FIRST EDITION
Your first ToteCue session
In this guide
Try one order from picking to packing, then tell us what felt clear and what got in your way. You do not need technical experience.
Before you start
Your test host will give you a worker link, your own PIN, a device setup QR and practice orders. Have a phone or tablet, an empty labeled bin, a box and the practice items ready. You do not need a Shopify account for ordinary worker tasks.
Use only the practice orders and packages agreed for your session. Do not change real customer orders or stock as part of a trial. If you have not received access yet, ask your test host before starting.
1. Sign in
- Scan the device setup QR with the phone or tablet you will use.
- Open the link in your usual browser and choose Set up this device.
- Choose your name, enter your PIN and choose Start work.
Keep using that browser. Your PIN is private; log out when finished on a shared device. If the device is already set up, start with worker sign-in.
2. Pick one practice order
- From Worker home, choose Select next order.
- Check the order number and choose Scan bin QR to scan an empty bin. If the camera is unavailable, open Select bin manually.
- Look at the product, its size/colour or other options, and the quantity.
- Put each correct item in the bin and select it only after you have found it.
Keep one order per bin. The QR label stays on the bin and can be used again for the next order after release.
3. Pack and check it
- Choose Pack this order now.
- Put the items into the box. Check them again and confirm the packed quantities when asked.
- Complete a photo or shipping-label check if your test host has enabled it.
- Choose Complete package and wait for confirmation.
The goal is a saved completion and a bin ready to reuse. Packing complete does not mean the parcel has been shipped; a practice label is not postage.
4. Try a handoff with another person
For a second practice order, choose Hand off for packing after picking. Keep the items in the same labeled bin. The other person opens that ready bin, chooses Start packing, checks the contents and completes the package.
Notice whether the handoff makes it clear which order is in the bin and what the packer needs to do next.
5. Report a practice problem
Ask your test host which practice item should be treated as missing. Choose Item unavailable, record the quantity and reason, then Report & pause package.
Keep the items together and ask the test host to show how the hold is resolved. Do not substitute a product, clear someone else’s work or ignore a warning to finish faster.
Optional checks for your session
Your test host will choose which of these to try. Features and button names can differ as improvements are introduced; use the options shown in your session.
- Photos: take a packing photo when requested and wait for it to save.
- Tracking label: scan one supported tracking barcode at a time. Check the result; try an agreed wrong-label example to see the mismatch warning. Do not guess tracking digits.
- Order priorities: compare an older practice order with a selected Express order. Notice the age and shipping reminders.
- Returns: find a practice return, record its arrival, then inspect quantities and condition. A saved inspection does not issue a refund.
- Product Loans: if enabled for you, prepare or receive a practice sample loan and check what is still outstanding.
What to tell us afterward
- Which step was immediately clear, and which needed explaining?
- Could you find the next order and get back to Worker home easily?
- Were product options, quantities and messages easy to read on your phone?
- Did scanning, photos or saving take longer than you expected?
- Did the handoff and missing-item warning help you understand what to do?
Tell your test host what you expected, what happened, and which phone/browser you used. Share safe notes rather than PINs, setup codes or customer information. You are testing the workflow, not being tested yourself.
If you get stuck
Stop with the items kept together. Use Worker Home when available, reopen the bin and read its current status. If a save is unconfirmed, ask before repeating it. Your test host can help; there is no need to fix anything behind the scenes.
